March 2007 - First Brick is Laid on the New Workshop in Madagascar

The first brick has now been put in place for the new workshop being built onto the Akany Avoko orphanage in Madagascar. This new workshop will provide training facilities for the orphans in order to help prepare them for an improved adult life in Madagascar. The much needed skills they will learn will give them the opportunity to earn a living outside of the orphanage when they leave as adults.

Casemir Chocolates are very proud to be able to sponsor this work as part of our ongoing Social Responsibility programme. Once built, Casemir Chocolates will sponsor two teachers for the workshop, as well as continuing to sponsor two teachers for the Casemir classrooms built and opened in 2006. (See the article from 14th March 2006 - "Social Responsibility and Madagascar", below).

"James Ecclestone lays the first brick watched by some of the children from the Akany Avoko orphanage. After displaying his brick laying skills the children give him a warm round of applause!"

27th December 2005 - Change of Address

As you may have read from the trade press we are commencing building work this year on our new production facility in East Enfield. As part of this exercise we have decided not to renew our lease on the retail shop at 13 Piccadilly Arcade, London SW1. We will be keeping the shop, offices and packaging premises in Tetherdown, London N10, at least until we move to the new factory.

This is an exciting time for Casemir as we will be able to produce some 6,000 kilos per month in the most perfect environment as well as conduct educational trips in chocolate work for customers. We have made provision for central London deliveries and the level of service will not fall below what I hope are your highest expectations.

September 2005 - UK Great Taste Challenge

At this years UK Taste Challenge, generally regarded as the Oscars of the UK food industry,
Casemir Chocolates Ltd continued to set the standard in hand made chocolates by winning two golds, a silver and a bronze.
Winning gold in the mint category was Casemir's Fresh Garden Mint. Two kilos of fresh garden mint are used each week to make around seventeen kilos of chocolates. An infusion is made from the leaves and marinated in Crème Fraiche for at least twenty four hours. This is then blended with chocolate made from Sao Tome beans, these are chosen for their low acidity and clean bitter aftertaste. The cocoa solids are 75%. Finally the chocolate is enrobed and decorated with a single fork mark. The second gold for Casemir's Basil was awarded in the plain chocolate single flavour category. The same proportions of fresh basil and used as in the mint chocolates. In addition four kilos of fresh strawberries and needed for seventeen kilos of finished chocolates. After the infusion has marinated it is blended with 70% Madagascan chocolate, a perfect foil for the peppery taste of the basil. A pinch of Turmeric is added which is also used as final decoration. The lesser awards of silver and bronze were awarded to Casemir's pulped raspberry and Tonka bean respectively.

Casemir supply sixty of the AA's top 200 hotels and a number of the countries best known restaurants from their modest production of 3,000 kilos of chocolates per month. Many of the centres are inspired by some of the countries top chefs and are supplied exclusively to them. Amongst Casemir's customers are The Ritz, Carlton Tower, Dukes, Stafford, Millenium and Marriott Hotels. Although 85% of the chocolates produced go to the hospitality trade consumers can purchase the award winning chocolates through the companies website www.casemirchocolates.co.uk or at their shop The Chocolate House, Tetherdown, Muswell Hill, London N10 1ND - Tel: 020 8365 2132
